Chop It Up North Fort Myers | Sandwich Shop Worth the Trip

Summer break means one thing in our house.

Someone is always hungry.

So when lunchtime rolled around, I loaded up two of my teenage sons and headed to Chop It Up in North Fort Myers. I'd been hearing great things about their chopped sandwiches, and I was curious to see if they lived up to the hype.

Let's just say teenage boys are a pretty tough audience.

If they like a sandwich, you're probably onto something.

Before we even ordered, I knew this wasn't just another sandwich shop.

Corrina welcomed us like we were regulars, answered our questions without rushing us, and shared a little of the story behind Chop It Up. She and her husband, Evan, packed up their lives, took a leap of faith, and brought their idea for chopped-style sandwiches to Southwest Florida. They started with a food truck, served crowds during Red Sox spring training at JetBlue Park, and eventually opened this bright, welcoming restaurant in North Fort Myers.

It's the kind of story that's easy to root for because you can still feel that excitement every time someone walks through the door.

The space itself feels just as welcoming.

Inside you'll find comfortable seating, a large communal table, and little reminders of the building's former life as Oasis Outdoors. It's clean, relaxed and the kind of place where nobody seems to be in a hurry.

While we looked over the menu, Corrina offered recommendations and answered questions like she was helping friends decide what to order.

I went with the Captain's Choice.

One son ordered the same sandwich as a full sub.

My other son tried the Chicken Caesar Wrap.

Of course, we couldn't resist adding a side of homemade pasta salad and, because no lunch with teenage boys is complete without dessert, we shared the homemade banana pudding.

What makes Chop It Up different isn't just what's inside the sandwich.

It's the way everything is chopped together before it ever reaches the bread.

Every bite tastes exactly the way it was intended, with every ingredient working together instead of competing for attention. It's such a simple idea that you'll find yourself wondering why more sandwich shops don't do it.

The Captain's Choice quickly became my favorite, especially with the homemade chipotle aioli and a drizzle of hot honey bringing everything together. But the real review came from across the table.

Both teenage boys gave lunch an enthusiastic two thumbs up.

If you've ever fed teenage boys, you know that's about as honest a restaurant review as you'll ever get.

One thing I didn't have room to try was the all-day breakfast menu, which means I already have a reason to come back. Next time I'm pairing one of their breakfast sandwiches with the Coconut Dream cold brew that's been calling my name since we walked in.

As we headed out, I realized what I'll probably remember most about Chop It Up won't be a single sandwich.

It will be the feeling that Corrina and Evan have built something that reflects who they are.

Warm.

Welcoming.

Unpretentious.

A place where good food and genuine hospitality go hand in hand.

And somehow, that makes the sandwiches taste even better.
