The Local Cuban Café You’ll Be Glad You Found in Naples

Sometimes the best lunch dates are the ones where you discover a restaurant you'll wonder how you missed for so many years.

That's exactly what happened when a few girlfriends and I met for lunch at Mango's Cuban Café in North Naples. I'd heard locals talk about it before, but this was my first visit, and I was curious to see what all the excitement was about.

Hidden inside a business park off Trade Center Way, Mango's isn't the kind of place you'd stumble across while exploring downtown Naples. It's the kind of restaurant people tell you about after they've fallen in love with it themselves.

Those are usually the best recommendations.

As soon as we walked through the front door, the comforting aroma of freshly brewed Cuban coffee and homemade pastries greeted us from the bakery case. The dining room felt relaxed and welcoming, and before long Jose Celis, one of the owners, was at our table with menus in hand, inviting us to make ourselves comfortable.

It was clear right away that hospitality isn't something Mango's adds to the experience. It's part of who they are.

Jose and his wife, Rosario Salinas, opened Mango's in 2013 with a simple vision: serve authentic Latin cuisine in a place where every guest feels like family. While Cuban favorites anchor the menu, you'll also find dishes inspired by Colombia and Venezuela, creating a blend of Latin American flavors that has quietly earned a loyal following among Naples locals.

Rather than relying on flashy advertising, they've built their reputation the best way possible—one satisfied customer at a time.

Before lunch arrived, I ordered a Postobón Apple soda.

If you've never tried one, it's a lightly sweet Colombian apple soda that's incredibly refreshing. For me, it was also unexpectedly nostalgic. Growing up in South Florida, it was one of my favorite childhood drinks, and seeing it on the menu instantly brought back memories. Sometimes it's the smallest details that make a meal memorable.

For lunch, we decided to sample several of Mango's signature dishes.

The Ropa Vieja was everything this Cuban classic should be. The shredded beef was so tender it practically melted with every bite, paired perfectly with fluffy white rice and sweet caramelized maduros that balanced every savory forkful.

The Pollo a la Plancha offered something lighter without sacrificing flavor. Perfectly grilled, juicy and beautifully seasoned, it proved that simple dishes can often be the most satisfying.

Then came Mango's Special Cuban Sandwich.

Pressed until perfectly crisp on the outside while remaining warm and melty inside, it combines grilled chicken, turkey, ham, Swiss cheese and fresh toppings on authentic Cuban bread. It's a creative twist on a traditional Cuban sandwich, and after one bite it was easy to understand why it has become one of the café's signature favorites.

Even after such a satisfying lunch, dessert never really felt optional.

We shared a warm guava-and-cheese pastelito alongside a smooth café con leche, and it was the perfect ending. The buttery pastry, sweet guava and creamy cheese filling paired beautifully with the rich espresso and steamed milk.

It's exactly the kind of dessert that encourages you to linger just a little longer.

As we finished our lunch, I realized what I'll probably remember most about Mango's isn't one particular dish.

It's the feeling.

The feeling that Jose and Rosario have created something that reflects who they are.

Warm.

Welcoming.

Authentic.
